Loglines

Today we looked at loglines. Loglines are one or two sentences that briefly summarise a film.

My own logline is: In 1970's New York an ex-cop is absorbed into a life of organised crime after the murder of his family.

This idea has been influenced by classic crime movies such as The Godfather or Scarface.

Genre/Film Research

This entry is to explain genre. The genre that I have looked at is the action genre, the six main features of this are:

Setting- Remote locations- Daylight a lot of attention is given to the characters. At night things tend to be quieter.

Themes- violence, torture, revenge, suspense.

Characters- Hero- strong says few words- loner- Villain- lots of allies- overconfident.

Props- guns, cars, explosives, hit-tech equipment.

Narrative/Plot- Hero goes after villain- usually wins.

Style- stunts, explosions, shakey camera shots, fast paced cuts.

A film that is a good example of this is Casino Royale (2006) starring Daniel Craig as James Bond 007 on his first mission. The film was directed by Martin Campbell with key scenes involving; a chase through a construction  site, a horrific torture scene and a nail iting car-chase.
Logline: Everyone has a past. Every Legend has a beginning. On November 17th, discover how James... become Bond
